Partnership Initiatives

DPSL facilitates two partnership initiatives that forge relationships with key agencies to maximize inter-jurisdictional communication and knowledge exchange: The Executive Breakfast Series and The Fire and Police Chiefs Forum. Each initiative was created to allow public safety leaders the opportunity to reflect on the relationships they have with each other in a relaxed and confidential setting -- and identify continued opportunities for: cooperation, collaboration and efficient information sharing.

The Executive Breakfast Series

Every quarter The Executive Breakfast Series brings together public safety decision makers to discuss current issues and emerging trends. The series represents one of the few occasions for leaders of local and state law enforcement agencies in the region to meet collectively with the special agents-in-charge of federal agencies (FBI, DEA, ATFE, NSA, and more). Being the only meeting if its type in the region, participants continue to rely on the unique opportunity it continually offers. Notably, The Executive Breakfast Series ran the week following the events of September 11 offering participants an exceptional forum for critical collaboration.

The Fire and Police Chiefs Forum

It became apparent to The Division of Public Safety leadership (DPSL) that at various meetings and seminars, public safety leaders primarily relied on break-time or luncheons to discuss matters of mutual interest. In an effort to provide more opportunity for meaningful collaboration, DPSL created The Fire and Police Chiefs Forum. The quarterly meeting fosters a collegial atmosphere allowing chiefs to better know one another and thus establish a professional network of support. Additionally, during the meetings, chiefs are given the opportunity to hear from various specialist and experts that provide timely and targeted information - keeping them abreast of critical public safety issues and trends.
